SMETHPORT — The Gators took both games against the Hubbers on Tuesday.
Howie Stuckey and David Talkington threw a combined shutout in game one, as the two finished with eight strikeouts, three walks, and four walks.
At the plate, Stuckey, Talkington, and Monte Tanner all notched doubles.
Nate Hollowell and Matt Stratton both had doubles for Smethport (2-9).
In game two, the Gators used a five-run second inning to seal the victory.
Stuckey recorded a double and a triple at the plate, while Drew Benson also had a double.
Hollowell and Stratton once again recorded doubles for Smethport.
“We were definitely fortunate to get two from them,” Port A coach Nate Zitnik said. “They exposed us a bit and made a late push. But I like how we’re putting some things together here.”
Port Allegany’s Tyler Lashway went 6-for-8 combined in the two games.
The Gators (5-6) will visit Bradford on Wednesday.
