Bradford bats can’t keep pace with DuBois

The Beavers pushed across 12 runs in the first en route to a 21-1 win in three innings over Bradford on Monday.

Lexi Ray hit a three-run inside-the-park homer in the first inning as part of her three-hit, five RBI day.

Kaylee Sadowski (2-for-3, four RBI), Lexi Smith (3-for-4, 4 RBI), and Mia Greer (4 RBI) also paced the Beaver offense.

DuBois (9-6) had 17 hits in the game and were also aided by five Bradford errors.

The Lady Owls scored their lone run of the game on a passed ball with the bases loaded in the third inning. That run broke a four-game shutout streak for the Owls.

“We had a rough start to our game tonight,” Bradford coach Jennifer Snow said. “It’s taking us longer than I would like to find our groove but we are getting there, even if it is too late in the game.”

Bradford (0-12) is back in action today against Otto-Eldred.

    Game 1: Otto-Eldred 12 Galeton 0

    Game 2: Galeton 3, Otto-Eldred 1

ELDRED — The Otto-Eldred and Galeton softball teams split a doubleheader on Monday, with the Lady Terrors taking game one and the Lady Tigers taking game two.

Alyssa Shelander tossed a one-hitter in Otto’s 12-0 victory to start the afternoon. Shelander struck out seven batters while allowing just one walk.

At the plate, Harlee VanScoter went 3-for-4 with two doubles, while Emily Sheeler and Autumn Smith both had doubles of their own.

Galeton’s Makaya Shadle and Kara Parsell combined for 11 strikeouts, seven walks, and 10 hits allowed.

Shadle would come back in the next game, though, and pitched Galeton to a 3-1 win while driving all of her team’s runs at the plate in the same inning.

In the fifth inning, Shadle knocked both an RBI double and a 2-run single as Galeton batted around to take control of the game.

Shadle also finished with 10 strikeouts, two walks, and five hits on the mound.

Camryn Thomas struck out five while allowing three walks and three hits for the Terrors. Both Thomas and VanScoter had doubles at the plate.

Otto-Eldred (7-5) will travel to face Bradford this afternoon.

    Game 1: Smethport 11, Port Allegany 3

    Game 2: Smethport 14, Port Allegany 3

PORT ALLEGANY — Emily Treat earned a pair of wins on the mound for the Lady Hubbers over Port Allegany on Monday.

In game one, Treat finished with four strikeouts, five hits, and two walks. At the plate, Hailey Wright went 2-for-3 while Heidi Lent went 3-for-4 with a double.

Port A’s Makenzie Burr had two strikeouts, three walks, and 10 hits. Hannah Lathrop went 2-for-4 with a double at the plate.

In game two, Treat finished with six strikeouts, two walks, and five hits.

Smethport had a number of contributors at the plate, namely Haleigh Larson, who went 4-for-5 with two home runs, and Abbey Woodard, who finished 3-for-5 with a home run. Baylea Strom added a triple while Sam Tanner (2-for-4) and Lana Durphy (3-for-4) also had nice games.

For Port Allegany, Hannah Lathrop was 2-for-4 with a home run, while Cailey Barnett went 2-for-3.

“Out bats came alive in game two,” Smethport coach Jon Peterson said. “That’s the best we’ve hit the ball all season long.”

Smethport (12-1) will travel to Otto-Eldred on Wednesday.

Cameron County 11, Northern Potter 2

EMPORIUM — The Red Raiders blasted three home runs as part of a 17-hit game to top Northern Potter on Monday.

Alyvia McKimm and Laila Smith hit back-to-back solo homers in the first inning to get the scoring started for CC (6-6). In the fourth, with the Raiders up by just one, Amily Schatz added a two-run longball as part of a seven-run inning to put the game out of reach. Schatz and McKimm finished with four hits each.

Smith hurled another gem in the circle for the Red Raiders, striking out six and allowing just six hits in a complete game effort.

Kalie Cowburn drove in both runs for Northern Potter (0-13) on a double in the third inning.

Cameron County travels to Oswayo Valley this afternoon, while Northern Potter hosts Coudersport on Wednesday.
