Coudy’s Chambers scores 37 to reach 1,000 points

COUDERSPORT — Coudersport’s Owen Chambers was 37 points away from reaching 1,000 for his career entering Wednesday’s game against Smethport, so you’d figure he’d need at least two more games to reach the milestone.

It seems the Coudy sharpshooter was a little impatient: Chambers scored exactly 37 points against the Hubbers to reach 1,000 career points and in the process help the Falcons to a 77-34 North Tier League victory over Smethport.

Chambers hit five 3-pointers in the game, as the Falcons made 12 long-range shots as a team to roll past the Hubbers.

Caleb Lutz led Smethport with 15 points.

Coudersport (8-1 overall, 6-0 NTL) visits Cameron County on Tuesday, while Smethport’s (6-4 overall, 4-1 NTL) next game is also against the Red Raiders at home on Friday.

    Cameron County 64, Otto-Eldred 52

EMPORIUM — The Red Raiders hit 10 3-pointers on Wednesday to remain undefeated (6-0) in North Tier League play with their victory over the Terrors.

Adam Shaffer scored a game-high 21 points to go along with seven assists. Elsewhere, Dino Brown (15 points, seven rebounds), Caden Beldin (12), and Ty Bauer (10) also finished in double figures for Cameron County.

Dylan Close led Otto-Eldred with 14 points.

Cameron County (8-1 overall, 6-0 NTL) visits Smethport on Friday. Otto-Eldred (4-4 overall, 1-4 NTL) will host Oswayo Valley on Friday.

    Galeton 56, Port Allegany 44

PORT ALLEGANY — The Tigers survived 10 Port Allegany 3-pointers, using a big third quarter to pull away from the Gators in Wednesday’s NTL tilt.

After leading by one at the half, Galeton outscored Port Allegany 19-5 in the third frame to pull away.

Evan Brooks scored a game-high 24 points to lead Galeton, with Joel Griffen (16) and Isaiah Shuemaker (10) also finishing in double figures.

Howie Stuckey scored 21 points, including five made 3s, to lead Port Allegany.

Galeton (3-6 overall, 2-3 NTL) will host Northern Potter on Friday. Port Allegany (1-7 overall, 0-4 NTL) visits Austin on Friday.
