KANE — An art exhibit and concert to benefit the art departments at Kane Area School District will be held this Saturday.
The Laughing Owl Press Co. will present the event from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the historic Thomas L. Kane Memorial Chapel in Kane. All proceeds will be donated to the district’s art departments and will be used for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The event title, “5×5,” originates in radio broadcast slang. Synonymous with “Loud and Clear,” it represents the scales for optimal signal strength and clarity.
At 6 p.m., the event will begin with an art exhibit and hors d’oeuvres provided by the Westline Inn. Featured will be works by Sara Aiello and Cathy Sirianni, the Kane Elementary/Middle School and High School art teachers, respectively, along with select students.
The event will also include pieces by other local artists and by artists from across the country. Works by artists from New York City to Los Angeles, Pittsburgh to Omaha and from Warren to Kane will be shown. Artwork will include paintings, sculpture, jewelry, light, and audio installations.
Starting at 7 p.m., music by solo post-rock act Field Noise of Kane, followed by post-rock band Heron of Warren, will be performed, amid a liquid light show.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets will be available at the Laughing Owl Press Co. and at the door.
The Kane Memorial Chapel is located at 30 Chestnut St., Kane.
