Volleyball roundup: Lady Owls fall to Ridgway; O-E remains perfect

RIDGWAY — The Bradford volleyball team lost a well-played, three set match on Thursday to Ridgway 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-19).

Laney Kahle led the Lady Owls with 14 assists, while Ashton McGriff had a team-high six kills. Also contributing for Bradford were Brinya Moffett (five kills, four blocks, two digs), Tara Moonan (three blocks), Erica Marshall (three digs), Ashton Himes (three kills), and Alexis Huber (two kills, two digs).

“Their girls played well tonight,” Bradford coach Steve Burgess said. “Ridgway has a nice team. It was a competitive match and could’ve gone either way. I’m proud of the way the team hustled and played hard. They continue to play as a team and give 100 percent.”

Bradford (6-6) will be off until Tuesday when the Lady Owls host Johnsonburg. The team will hold its annual “Dig Pink Night” before the match.

    NORTH TIER

    Oswayo Valley 3, Galeton 0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-6)

SHINGLEHOUSE — Oswayo Valley came up with a big win in the North Tier on Thursday, sweeping Galeton in three sets.

The Lady Green Wave got contributions from numerous sources. Madison Miller notched 36 assists and nine digs, while Naomi Cook (12), Shayla Bickel (14), and Jayden Snyder (18) all recorded double-digit digs. Bickel also added 11 kills and 11 points.

Karley Carpenter finished with 10 points and eight digs, and Makenzie Carr (10 digs, six points) and Paige Smith (five points, two kills, two aces, two blocks) also had good matches.

“This was a big night for us tonight,” OV coach Rochelle Kellogg said. “It was our homecoming game. It was a team effort for girls to go out and beat Galeton after losing in three sets over there earlier this year.”

Oswayo Valley (13-5 overall, 8-5 league) will host Cowanesque Valley on Monday.

    Otto-Eldred 3, Coudersport 0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-18)
