A Port Allegany man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly selling a “nickel bag” of marijuana to a 14-year-old male.
Michael Owen Ayers, 39, of 66 South Main St., is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, felonies; possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; and corruption of minors, a first-degree misdemeanor.
According to court records, on Sept. 15, Port Allegany police were called to a residence for a 14-year-old male who had been sold marijuana.
When police arrived, the child’s grandfather gave a baggie of marijuana to police. Upon investigation, police learned witnesses saw Ayers in the area of the house around 4 p.m., and saw an exchange happen where the child paid Ayers and got a “nickel bag” of marijuana, court records allege.
The child was confronted by his family, and turned over the bag to them. At 6 p.m. that day, the grandfather took the child to the police station, and the child told police he had messaged Ayers through Facebook and asked him to deliver the marijuana, court records allege.
Ayers was arraigned before District Judge David Engman and remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Oct. 5.
