    Eldred man to serve state prison for assault

    SMETHPORT — An Eldred man was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court to a term in state prison for an assault.

    Alexander M. Davis, 23, will serve 22 to 44 months in state prison for a charge of aggravated assault. On Aug. 3, Davis pleaded guilty to allegations that on Jan. 11, he tried to cause serious injury to a man by kicking him once in the head with a composite-toed boot.

    Also in court, Melissa M. Bunting, 40, of Bradford, will serve 18 months of probation and pay a total of $17,877.93 in restitution for charges of criminal mischief and simple assault.

    Bunting pleaded guilty June 15 to allegations that on Jan. 13, in the area of East Main Street, she caused a total of $21,903.56 in damage — or a net total of $13,502.90 — to a vehicle and damage to $4,375.03 worth of items inside the vehicle. Bunting tried to hurt Janna Davis, too.

    Melissa K. Moyer, 38, of Eldred, will serve 30 days to 23 ½ months on McKean County Jail and pay $5,828 in restitution for a charge of theft by deception. On Aug. 3, Moyer pleaded guilty to allegations that between Oct. 1, 2014, and May 1, 2015, she received $5,828 in Social Security benefits she was not entitled to by failing to inform authorities that her child no longer lived with her.

    Robert E. Cover, 32, of Eldred, will serve 14 days to 23 ½ months in McKean County Jail for a charge of simple assault and a summary charge. Cover pleaded guilty Aug. 3 to allegations that on Feb. 11, he subjected a woman to physical contact, hurting her.

    Brandon P. Conner, 28, of Smethport, will serve five years in the Intermediate Punishment Program for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

    Andrew G. Maholic, 21, of Bradford, will serve 23 ½ months of probation for charges of corruption of minors, possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use, possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge. On Aug. 3, Maholic pleaded guilty to allegations that on March 26, he possessed marijuana and a green water bong and allowed a 16-year-old girl to drive without a license.

    Jared M. McAndrews, 20, of Bradford, was sentenced to seven to 14 days in McKean County Jail with credit for seven days of time served and 17 ½ months of probation for a charge of simple assault. McAndrews pleaded guilty Aug. 3 to allegations that on May 25, he caused injury to his paramour.

    Charmaine L. Bliss, 30, of Bradford, will serve 22 days to one year in McKean County Jail with credit for 22 days of time served for charges of bad checks. Bliss pleaded guilty Aug. 17 to allegations that in 2015, she issued two bad checks: one for $525 and the second for $125.

    Devon N. Cruz, 19, of Philadelphia, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program with credit for seven days of time served for charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and a summary charge.

    Eric J. Schweigart, 47, of Kane, will serve one year of probation for a charge of simple assault.

    Rachel M. Jamison, 25, of Buffalo, N.Y., will serve nine months of probation for a charge of disorderly conduct.

    William D. Heaven, 59, of Eldred, will serve six months of probation for a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and several summary charges.

    Arthur W. Williams, 55, of Duke Center, will serve six months of probation for a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and summary charges.
