SMETHPORT — A Rixford man will be serving time in state prison for allegations of indecent assault and intimidating a witness in two cases.
Sky D. Tipton, 19, appeared Thursday in McKean County Court for a sentencing hearing before President Judge John Pavlock.
Tipton was sentenced to two to four years in prison with credit for 389 days of time served. He was deemed a sexually violent predator after an evaluation and must therefore register as a sex offender for his lifetime.
He is to have no contact with either victim or anyone under the age of 18, and he will undergo a mental health evaluation with a focus on sex offender treatment.
On Oct. 13, Tipton pleaded guilty to charges in one case to two counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and in a second case to intimidating a witness/victim to withhold testimony.
He entered the plea to allegations that between Jan. 7 and April 12 in 2016, he had indecent contact with two juveniles, one 7 years old and the other 10 years old; then, on June 20, he wrote a letter to family members saying he would release information about them if they did not agree to drop the charges.
