For a Parkway Field spectator at Tuesday’s Lady Owls track meet with Kane, the names announced on the public address system might have started to sound familiar.
With Brooke and Ashton McGriff each winning four events, Amanda and Emily Little winning two distance races and teaming up for the 4×800 relay and Logan Sunafrank and Regan Johnson tripling, Bradford High raced to a 101-48 win over Kane.
The Lady Owls won 10 of 11 track events on the day.
“It was a good day for our team with a lot of improvement,” BHS girls head coach Larry Stillman said. “Ashton and Brooke had outstanding days with four first places each and Logan Sunafrank and Regan Johnson also looked very good with triple wins.”
The Littles and Sunafrank got things started for Bradford in the 4×800, teaming with Morgan Tyger to run an 11:45. Brooke McGriff then won the 100-hurdles in a time of 16.1, her first of two individual first-place finishes on the day.
She also won the pole vault with a jump of 8-00 and ran legs on the 4×100 (with Alexis Huber, Liz Miller and Johnson) and 4×400 (with Sunafrank, Johnson and Ashton McGriff), winning in 52.9 and 4:29.5, respectively.
Ashton McGriff, meanwhile, won the 300 hurdles in 48.7, the 200 with a time of 26.4 and leaped 4-10 in the high jump in addition to her 4×400 leg.
Johnson, a freshman, sprinted to a 12.9 time in the 100 dash and Sunafrank added an individual first in the 400, finishing her lap around the track in 1:06.6. The Littles swept the distance events, with Emily Little taking the 1,600 in 6:19 and Amanda Little running the 3,200 in 13:19.
Abby Coffman had a personal-best throw of 31-09 in the shot put.
“Amanda and Emily Little had solid distance races Abby Coffman had her personal-best shot put throw,” Stillman said. “Alexis Brown and Gretchen Henneman were very good in the triple jump and freshman Mikah Watkins ran an excellent first-time 400 dash.”
Kane dominated the field events, with Trinity Clark sweeping the throws and Alyssa Zampagna winning the long and triple jumps. Clark won the javelin (133-00), discus (102-08) and shot put (35-09), while Zampagna jumped 15-02 in the long and 33-01.75 in the triple.
