The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford vocal arts ensemble will hold a spring concert at noon April 13 in the KOA Electronics Lobby of Blaisdell Hall.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, is part of the university’s Spectrum series. A light lunch will be served as part of the event.
“We will be doing a program entitled ‘Songs of Freedom,’ a selection of musical works that explore the struggle for and value of freedom in all its manifestations,” said Dr. Joshua Groffman, assistant professor of music and director of the group.
“We’ll do a mixture of pieces from different styles, including popular music selections by Imogen Heap and Bob Marley, folk songs, and classical works.”
Solos will be performed by Anne Frick, a psychology major from Bradford; Falon Ljunggren, an interdisciplinary arts and accounting major from Orem, Utah; Brooke Imbriale, an interdisciplinary arts major from Beaver Falls; Lanessa Hickman, a history-political science major from Lees Summit, Missouri; Juhana Mbassa, an undecided student from Philadelphia; and Eduardo Gonzalez, an undecided student from Sugar Hill, Georgia.
Piano accompaniment will be provided by Manu Gajanan, an interdisciplinary arts major from Bradford, who will also perform a solo.
