SHINGLEHOUSE — On Friday, Garren Back was hit by a pitch on his throwing arm in a scrimmage with Bolivar-Richburg.
He showed no ill effects as the opening day starter for Oswayo Valley Monday.
Black allowed just two hits and struck out six to lead the Green Wave to a 10-0 five-inning blanking of Otto-Eldred in a Northern Allegheny matchup.
Oswayo Valley has won 22 straight regular season games dating back to 2015.
“It was nice to actually start on time weather-wise,” OV coach Brad Buchholz said. “I thought Garen pitched really well. His pitching arm was pretty sore for most of the weekend. He pitched through a little bit of pain and he pitched really well for us.”
Camden Graves finished 2-for-2 with three RBI while Jacob Karr (2-for-3) and Gage Babcock each had two RBI and Black a double for the Green Wave, who scored seven runs in the fifth to end the game.
Seth Drummond and Cameron McGee had the two hits for Otto-Eldred (0-1).
