Otto-Eldred girls take down Port Allegany in NTL action

DUKE CENTER — Otto-Eldred’s balanced scoring attack carried the Lady Terrors to a 48-45 victory over Port Allegany in girls North Tier League basketball action Friday.

Leading the way were Camryn Thomas with 15 points and Ali Cousins with 12 followed by Tiffany Bair with eight tallies and Emily Smith with six.

“Everyone contributed tonight and we had balanced scoring,” said Barb Close, O-E coach. “We also had good team rebounding. Thomas had seven rebounds, Smith seven and Bair had six rebounds and three steals.”

Port’s Autumn Buchsenschutz scored a game-high 19 points and along with teammate Kaley Barnett sparked a Lady Gators’ rally in the fourth quarter that made the final score close.

“Port never gave up,” Coach Close pointed out. “They outscored us 22-14 in the fourth quarter. Ali (Cousins) went  4 for 5 at the line and we played really good defense down the stretch to put the game away.”

Otto, 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the NTL, returns to action Tuesday at Northern Potter.

    Cameron County 59, Smethport 49

EMPORIUM — Amily Schatz recorded her first double-double of the season and Madi Guisto scored a game-high 20 points to lead Cameron County to a win over Smethport in their girls North Tier League game Friday.

Schatz scored 10 points and completed her double-double by pulling down 11 rebounds.

Cameron’s Alyvia McKimm backed Madi Guisto with 17 points, while Madison Harrier also had a solid night on the boards with 11 rebounds and came up with four steals and three assists.

The Lady Red Raiders led by seven, 18-11, at the end of the first quarter and pushed that to 13 at halftime, 35-22, on the way to their third win of the season and to go to 2-1 in league play. High scorers for Smethport were Emily Treat with 14 points and and Abbey Woodard with 13. Cameron County (3-3, 2-1 NTL) returns to action Tuesday at Coudersport.

RIDGWAY – Trinity Clark and Ella Marconi’s inside games were too much for Ridgway as the Lady Wolves came away with a non-league victory Friday night.

Clark scored 18 – including three 3s – and had eight rebounds and four assists, while Marconi added 15 tallies, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Camryn Cummings had seven points and four assists.
