    Halloween events slated across region

    Local children will have numerous opportunities to snag treats this Halloween, as events are planned across the region.

    Residents who are handing out candy are asked to leave their porch lights on.

    The following events have been submitted to The Era or gathered through other sources. A more complete list will follow in an edition later this week.

    Events before Halloween include:

    • Bradford City: preschoolers’ Halloween party from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Bradford Area Public Library

    • Johnsonburg: Halloween dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Boys and Girls Club gymnasium for third, fourth and fifth graders to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys hosted by Northern Elite Girls Softball, cost is $5 plus one canned or dry good

    • Galeton: Halloween parade at 2 p.m. Friday at the elementary school

    Events on Halloween Day include:

    • Bradford City: trick-or-treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    • Bradford City: “Rock Bands” ninth annual trunk-or-treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 79 Mechanic St.; with candy, hot dogs, games and prizes; sponsored by Grace Lutheran and Open Arms Community Church

    • Bradford City: The Era’s trunk-or-treat from 2 to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Bradford Area High School with face painting, tossing games, cider and candy

    • Bradford City: “A Nightmare on Barbour Street” party from 8 p.m. to midnight for members of the VFW Post 212 and the Bradford Vets Club and guests, DJ Cortness and costume prizes

    • Bradford Township: trick-or-treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    • Foster Township: trick-or-treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    • Limestone, N.Y.: Trick-or-treat will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Limestone.

    A children’s Halloween party will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. that day at the Limestone Firemen’s Community Center.

    • Lewis Run Borough: trick-or-treat from 6 to 7 p.m., with a Halloween party immediately following in the firehall

    • Lafayette Township: trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m.

    • Lafayette Township: Halloween party at 11 a.m. at the The Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire & Rescue Fire Hall, Route 59, for township residents with a costume contest, games for all ages and refreshments

    • Hilltop area: trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m.

    • Smethport Borough: trick-or-treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    • Turtlepoint: trunk-or-treat, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Turtlepoint Community Park, hosted by the Turtlepoint Evangelical Church and residents.

    • Wetmore Township: trick-or-treat from 4 to 6 p.m.

    • Port Allegany: trick-or-treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

    • Norwich Township: Halloween party from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crosby American Legion, trick-or-treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    • Eldred: trick-or-treat from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Halloween party sixth graders and under at 7 p.m. at the Eldred Borough Fire Hall with pumpkin-carving contest, haunted house at 7 p.m. in the ambulance building sponsored by the Revitalize Eldred Committee

    • Eldred: harvest party from 1 to 3 p.m. at Eldred United Methodist Church for children 2 years of age through 6th grade with games, crafts food and a Bible lesson

    • Duke Center: trick-or-treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a trunk-or-treat event at the Otto Park at that time.

    • Kane: Halloween parade at 3 p.m. from Wetmore Avenue to Chestnut Street with best costume prizes, trick-or-treat from 4 to 6 p.m., X-ray services at Kane Community Hospital for trick-or-treat bags

    • St. Marys: trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m.

    • Ridgway: community trick-or-treat from 5 to 7 p.m., business trick-or-treat from 3 to 5 p.m.

    • Coudersport: trick-or-treat from 6 p.m. to lights out, Halloween parade at 2 p.m. from the courthouse gazebo to the Gunzburger Building gymnasium, trunk-or-treat at 5:30 p.m. by the borough office

    • Johnsonburg: parade at 3:30 p.m. down Market Street, downtown trunk-or-treat by local businesses and residents from 4 to 6 p.m. on Market Street, trick-or-treat from 5 to 7 p.m.

    • Emporium: trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m.

    • Shinglehouse: trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m.

    • Austin: trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m.

    • Ulysses: trick-or-treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

    • Galeton: trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m.

     

    Other events

    A haunted house to benefit the Smethport Area High School senior class prom will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the former offices of the McKean County Housing and Redevelopment Authorities at 410 East Water St. in Smethport, across the street from Costa’s Supermarket. The admission fee is $5.
