Through four games of North Tier League play, Port Allegany and Coudersport have proved to be the class of the league.
Port Allegany’s Becca Lathrop scored 10 points tonight and has been in double figures every game this season. With Lathrop and Brooke Roys seeing increased double-teams, guards Gabby Drabert, Somer Buchsenschutz and Krista Miller have stepped up to shoulder more of the scoring load. The Lady Gators are deep and have talent at every spot on the floor. Winners of six in a row. They will be tough for any NTL team to beat.
Coudersport, however, could give them a serious run. Jenna Gabreski scored 20 points tonight, the 5th time she has scored at least 20 in a game this season and Taylor Green was in doubles for the 4th straight game with 16. Coach Chris Fink noted that his team’s continued improvement on defense has been key to their eight-game winning streak. Kiersten Counts stepped up with six assists for the Lady Falcons as well.
Cameron County remained one-game behind Port and Coudy thanks to a 12-point effort from Susie Guisto in a defensive slugfest against Otto-Eldred.
Austin, meanwhile, got a season-high 15 points from Hannah Glover in its win over Oswayo Valley.
