David Cassidy to Open BCPAC’s Season

Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center’s 2006-2007 season
has something for everyone – a former teem pop star, a hot country
band and a major national figure for a provocative lecture – among
others.

BCPAC president Jim Guelfi announced the season begins with a
7:30 p.m. performance – David Cassidy in Concert – Sept. 30 at the
Bromeley Family Theater in Blaisdell Hall at the University of
Pittsburgh at Bradford.

The season also includes Trick Pony at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the
Bradford Area High School Auditorium; the New Orleans Preservation
Hall Jazz Band at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Bromeley Family Theater; The
Platters, The Drifters and The Coasters in Concert at 7:30 p.m.
March 3 in Bromeley Family Theater; and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.,
“Our Environmental Destiny,” at 7:30 p.m. April 20 in the Bromeley
Family Theater.

A BCPAC showcase, not a part of the subscription season, will
star Joe Herndon’s Pittsburgh All-Star Little Big Band, at 7:30
p.m. Dec. 19 in the Bromeley Family Theater.

“We’re in for a great season – even more than usual,” said
Guelfi. “Here’s why.

“In addition to booking some great shows at great prices, as
you’ve come to expect from BCPAC, this year we’re continuing to
make the Bromeley Family Theater in Blaisdell Hall, Pitt-Bradford’s
wonderful new facility, our unofficial home. It’s a great
venue.

“If there’s a better place to see a show within an hour’s drive
of Bradford, I’ve not seen it. And it’s right here in town. That’s
why our slogan this year is ‘BCPAC at the Bromeley.'”

To take advantage of this facility, Guelfi said, BCPAC has
booked all but one of its shows in this 500-seat hall.

“So you can see a major pop star, David Cassidy, in a setting
that’s as intimate as your living room, just where you first met
David years ago when he starred in The Partridge Family.”

And what a range of shows BCPAC is presenting this year. In
addition to David Cassidy, BCPAC will show a hot country act – the
honky tonk rockers Trick Pony – in the Bradford Area High School
Auditorium. Then it’s back to the Bromeley for a fabled jazz band,
and then an evening of doo-wop classics.

Finally, because of the Bromeley’s intimate setting, BCPAC
extended its season to include a presentation by nationally known
speaker Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose presentation is titled Our
Environmental Destiny.

“By the way,” Guelfi said, “Kennedy’s talk is no dusty civics
lesson. Instead, this presentation is a chance to hear someone from
America’s legendary “first family” on the issue that affects us
all. In the future, we hope to continue to bring you national
figures on hot topics from all political and ideological
perspectives.”

Season subscriptions are on sale now. Orders for individual
shows are being taken now but will be filled after Sept. 11,
allowing season subscribers to be seated.

Guelfi suggests that ticket-seekers visit the BCPAC office at 10
Marilyn Horne Way or between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through
Friday; or order tickets online by e-mailing BCPAC through its Web
site.
