Bradford Highs Stefan Arlington is among six more players
accepting invitations to play in the 33rd annual Big 30 Don Raabe
Charities Classic.
Arlington is a 5-9, 200-pound two-way tackle for the Owls.
He is an honor roll student, a team captain and a recipient of
the lineman award. He plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh
at Bradford.
When asked why he wants to play in the Classic, he said, Ive
lived in Bradford all my life and have watched the game every year.
My brother played in the game. Im also excited to play one more
game of football.
He says his biggest thrills were playing in a state playoff game
my junior year and being a part of a final four team my sophomore
year.
Arlington enjoys golf, skiing, music, movies, television and
video games. The Detroit Lions is favorite team while Roy Williams
is his favorite player.
Also added to the Pennsylvania roster were Tim McClain of
Otto-Eldred and Adam Handley from Ridgway.
McClain was a 5-8, 205-pound guard on offense and linebacker on
defense for the Terrors.
He has won varsity letters in football and baseball. His
education plans include a technical school. He says he wants to
play in the Big 30 Game because he loves the game.
Beating Smethport the first time in 20 years is his biggest
thrill.
McClains hobbies include riding four-wheelers, shooting,
reloading guns and lifting weights. The Buffalo Bills is favorite
team and Ray Lewis his favorite player.
Completing todays additions to the Pennsy team is Handley.
Handley was a 5-9, 160-pound running back and defensive back for
the Elkers.
He tied a state record by recording five interceptions in one
game. He will attend Lock Haven University majoring in physical
education.
The desire to play football with the best is why he wants to
play in the Big 30 Game. Getting interceptions have been his
biggest thrills while playing football.
Wrestling and football are McClains main hobbies. Brian Urlacher
is his favorite player and the Chicago Bears his favorite team.
The New York roster additions include Mandela Elom from
Ellicottville, Cory Holland of Franklinville and Chase Colf from
West Valley.
Elom was a 5-11, 180-pound running back and corner back for the
Eagles.
In 2005, he was selected to the Olean (N.Y.) Times Herald Big 30
team, was a Connolly Cup finalist and Super Seven Athlete of the
Week. He will pursue a career in sports management.
Elom says he wants to play in the Big 30 Game to make new
friends. I also love the game and the competition.
He gets thrills from the excitement and energy you receive while
playing.
He spends his leisure time skiing, snowboarding, drawing and
hanging out with his friends. Michael Vick is his favorite player
and the Atlanta Falcons his favorite team.
Holland was a 6-1, 240-pound guard and tackle on offense and
tackle on defense for the Panthers.
Holland has received academic honors, MVP, a first-team all-star
selection twice, a second-team all-star selection twice and was
voted outstanding lineman three times.
His plans include becoming a history or physical education
teacher.
He says he wants to play in the Big 30 Game because he really
loves football and has heard a lot about it (the Big 30 Game).
Holland says he gets his thrills from playing under the lights
on a Friday night (and) just playing the game.
His spare time is spent playing football, hockey and video
games. The Buffalo Bills is his favorite team and Reggie Tombstone
Jackson his favorite player.
Colf was a 6-1, 185-pound quarterback while playing linebacker
and corner on the defensive side of the ball for the Wildcats.
He is an all-star in football, basketball and baseball.
Colf says to play in the Big 30 Game is a great opportunity to
play the last football game of my high school career.
When asked to describe his biggest thrill, he said, The
experience of a big time playoff game at Randolph my sophomore
year.
Anything to do with sports is how he spends his spare time. The
San Diego Chargers is his favorite team and LaDainian Tomlinson is
his favorite player.
Todays additions bring the Classic rosters total to 60, with 30
players on each team.
All players, coaches and cheerleaders will gather for Media Day
at 1:30 p.m. on May 21 at the Pitt-Bradford Sport & Fitness
Center.
The Big 30 Game pits graduated seniors from New York against
graduated seniors from Pennsylvania. New York leads the series
17-13-2.
This years game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at Bradford
Highs Parkway Field.
