Lady Owls rebound, defeat Otto-Eldred

DUKE CENTER -The Bradford Lady Owls earned their third win of
the season with an 11-1 victory over the Otto-Eldred Lady Terrors
in high school softball action Thursday.

“This was a nice way to come back after Tuesday’s tough loss,”
stated BHS coach Sue Aljoe.

Nothern Potter defeated the Lady Owls 2-0 on Tuesday.

“The girls are playing together well as a team,” Aljoe added.
“They are being unselfish and very supportive of each other.”

Leading the way for the winners was Shelly Fuhrman belting a
triple and driving in four runs. Erin Comilla went 2-for-5 with a
double and three RBIs and Brittany Harsen doubled.

“Hope Matzner, Shelly and Erin all had clutch hits in the first
inning and everyone in the lineup contributed in some way,” said
Aljoe.

Fuhrman earned the mound win giving up five hits, whiffing five
and walking none of the Lady Terrors.

“Shelly continues to do a terrific job for us,” Aljoe declared.
“She pitched another solid game and helped the team with some
outstanding defensive plays.”

On the mound for O-E were Megan Gross, Courtney Halstead and
Sofia Tyler combining for eight strikeouts, 12 walks and 10
hits.

The Lady Terrors committed four errors; the Lady Owls did not
commit an error.

“The defense has worked very hard at practice and the results of
their efforts are beginning to show,” Aljoe pointed out.

BHS has given up four runs in its first five games.

Offensively for O-E, Brittany Hepfer doubled and Erin Breese
went 2-for-3.

“Otto is a young team and they have several good players,” Aljoe
admitted. “They played hard all afternoon and show a lot of
promise.”

O-E falls to 1-3.

The Lady Owls (3-1) host Oswayo Valley on Monday.
