YWCA named women leaders

The YWCA of Bradford has selected two outstanding female leaders
for recognition at its ninth annual Leader Luncheon at noon May 5
in the Mukaiyama Room in the Frame-Westerberg Commons Building at
the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

The award identifies women who have made a difference in the
community and who have enriched lives with gifts of leadership. The
two honorees are Barbara L. Boser and Sandra H. McKinley.

Meanwhile, a new category has been added this year – the Young
Leader Award – which will be presented to Melissa Simon. The award
is presented to a young woman who has shown the qualifications and
promise of becoming a leader for tomorrow.

Boser is a retired district judge. Her special interests include

member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Limestone, N.Y., where
she’s on Parish Council and a member of the Rosary Altar Society.

president for Beacon Light Behavioral Systems for 1983 until 2003.
She was a member of the board of directors for the Bradford
Hospital Auxiliary from 1979 to 1980. In 1989, she was the founding
board member of the Bradford Hospital Foundation and is currently
the board chairwoman.

In 2002, she was the campaign chairwoman for “Building the
Future” at Bradford Regional Medical Center. She was a member of
the board of directors from 1989 until 1993 for the Bradford Area
Chamber of Commerce and was president of the board of directors in
1991 and 1992. She was the owner/manager of Emery Travel Service
Inc., from 1983 until 2001.

She is also a trustee for the YMCA board, a member of the
Bradford and Pennhills clubs, and life member of the Bradford Gun
