Thursday.
Hvizdzak won the 100 and anchored both the 4×100 and 4×400 relay
teams. Mukerjee won the 800, was second in the 400 meters and ran a

Alex Ita also had a good day winning the 200- and 400-meter
races and taking a close second in the 100.ð
The 100 was virtually a four-way finish with Ita, Hvizdzak,

time 11.6.ð

who won the 3200 in 10:53 and took second in the 1600 with a 4:48

Josh Holleran and Maynard also doubled. Both were members of the
4×100 and 4×400 relays.ð

recorded their best time of the year (45.1).
Sophomore Nick Johnson won both hurdle races in personal best
times of 16.6 and 43.3. He also took third in the long jump.
The team’s top event of the day was the pole vault. Matt

Teribery had a six-foot improvement, McMurtrie improved by one

“We have two volunteer coaches who have really helped out,”
Tessena added.
The volunteer coaches are Mike Poiarkoff, a student at
Pitt-Bradford, and Jeremiah Karrasch, the Owls’ school record
holder with a personal best of 14’6″.
“These guys are making a lot of good things happen,” Tessena
noted.
Tessena noted he rested a few guys. Bradford’s best hurdler,
Andy Preston, helped coach Thursday. Preston will run Saturday.
“His crew did a great job,” Tessena said.
Johnson won both hurdles, Ryan Miller and Vinnie Schiappa had
personal bests in the 110 hurdles and Schiappa and freshman Tyree
Bennett had personal bests in the 300 hurdles.
Rich Bartlebaugh and Tommy Morris did well in the high jump, 6′
and 5’10”, respectively.
Bartlebaugh also had his best jump in the triple jump (38’8

Lonzi had personal bests in the shot, 41’6″ and 39’4″,
respectively. Sophomores Dan Gonzalez and Ben Lanich helped the
Owls sweep the discus. In addition, Tyler Hopkins performed well in
all three jumps.
“It was a good day all the way around,” Tessena maintained.
“People stepped up in every event. Our younger guys are starting to
get some confidence and they are filling in nicely. We just have to
keep working hard and not get too comfortable. We have good
competition in every event.”
Bradford competes in the South Hills Classic in Pittsburgh on
Saturday.
