Owls open season with 11-9 win over Brockway

The Bradford Owls used a 10-run fifth inning to trim Brockway
11-9 in six innings in their season opener in high school baseball
action Wednesday.

Jimmy Milbrandt was the starting pitching for the Owls, turning
in three innings, while Nick Foster earned the win for his
performance in the fourth and fifth innings. Lou Jones was credited
with save in his sixth-inning finish. The trio combined to allow
seven hits and whiff four.

At the plate for the Owls (1-0), Garett Brown went 2-for-3 and
Mike Pascarella and Alex Faucher each drilled a two-run single.

Mike Santaniollo, Nate Shaffer and Luke Brumberg were on the
hill for Brockway, collectively scattering seven hits, issuing five
base-on-balls and fanning four.

Offensively for Brockway (0-1), Josh Inzana jacked a double.

“It was ugly,” BHS coach Tim Burris admitted. “But it was great
to get the win. We had some trouble with walks (11) and we got bit
by the error bug, with four. But Brockway got into error trouble
themselves with four.

“We did a great job of being patient at the plate and putting
the ball into play in the fifth. We found we can make it happen
with a little pressure on the defense.”

The Owls return to action Friday at Brookville.
