The Bradford Owls opened their dual meet season with some solid
performances in a 130-20 win over St. Marys on Tuesday.

for the Owls.ðð

also was second in the 200 meters.
Double winners were Steve Kirkland, Colton Langianese, Shroy
Mukerjee, Rob Bleem, Rich Bartlebaugh, Josh Holleran and David
Rivera.
Other first-place finishers for the Owls were Jared Feura,
Garrett McCune, Venere Maynard and Matt Teribery.
“We had a good day for our first meet on the new track and it
was great that former Era Sports Editor Ron Kloss was the honorary
starter and fired the opening gun to begin the meet,” BAHS coach
Tom Tessena said.
“He (Ron) must have inspired our guys because they ran 8:19.
That was the best dual meet relay we ever ran. Langianese,
Kirkland, Bartlebaugh and Mukerjee were all business today.
“Rich won the high jump with a personal best of 6′, Steve won
the 3200, Colton won the 800 and Shroy took second in the 400 and
800 and ran a great leg in the 4×400 relay.
“Our sprinters all ran well. Ita, Hvizdzak and sophomore Venere
Maynard ran some great times. They were all in the 23s for the 200
meters, 23.5, 23.6 and 23.7.
“Jared Feura looked good in the mile with a 4:47. Andy Preston’s
time in the 300 hurdles, 40.7, is our sixth best time ever
run.”
Matt Teribery won the pole vault with a personal best of 11′.
Shane Speaker did 10’6″ and Dan McMurtrie made 10′.
“Rivera had good jumps in both the long and triple,” Tessena
said.
Newcomer McCune won the javelin (160’7″), the fifth best ever.
He also also took second in the shot and ran a pretty good 100
meters, according to Tessena.
Bleem had a big day in the throws, winning the discus with a
personal best of 143’5″, 10th place on the all-time list. He also
won the shot and was second in the javelin.
Ryan Mongillo had a personal best of 40’7″ in the shot. Dan
Gonzalez and C.J. Mackey had good throws in the discus, 129’1″ and
114’8″, respectively.
Tommy Morris jumped 5’10” in the high jump and Ryan Miller
jumped 18’7″ in the long jump.
“Our relay teams all ran well, even our B teams,” Tessena noted.
“We are developing some nice depth in most events but we still have
areas that need improvement. Our coaching staff was pleased with
the effort that these guys put out today and this gives us a lot of
optimism about where we can go this year.ð
“We go down to Pittsburgh for a big invitational at West Mifflin
on Saturday so we will be tested again.”
