Colts among six additions to Classic rosters

Bradford High senior Bob Colts is one of six more players who
have committed to play in the 33rd annual Big 30 Don Raabe
    Charities Classic.

Colts, 5-8, 200 pounds, played tight end and defensive end for
coach Steve Ackerman and the Owls.

In the classroom, Colts is a member of the National Honor
Society. His hobbies are weightlifting, running and computers.

He plans to further his education at Gannon University to become
    a physician’s assistant.

His biggest thrill was being part of a team that almost made it
    to the PIAA championship.

The Denver Broncos is his favorite team and Tatum Bell his
    favorite player.

His reason to play in the Big 30 Classic is “to have the
opportunity to play one more football game.”

Also added to the Pennsylvania roster was Tom Launer of
    Johnsonburg High School.

Launer, a tailback and linebacker for the Rams, is 6’2″ and 190
    pounds.

He will attend Slippery Rock University in the fall to major in
    physical therapy.

In football, he was selected to the Allegheny Mountain League
    All-Star first-team and the Tri-County Sunday second-team.

His biggest thrills were overcoming a season-ending knee injury
in 2004, scoring a touchdown his first carry in 2005 and beating
    Curwensville his senior year.

He wants to play in the Classic to “just play football.”

The Green Bay Packers is his favorite team and Walter Payton his
    favorite player.

Completing Pennsylvania’s additions this week is Willie Bova of
    Port Allegany High School.

Bova, a quarterback and a safety for the Gators, is 6-0 and 170
    pounds.

Bova will further his education at either the University of
Pittsburgh at Bradford or Thiel College.

He was selected to the 2005 AML football all-star team.

In basketball, Bova is a 1,000-point scorer and was selected to
the 2004-2005 North Tier League All-Star basketball team. In
addition, he made the all-tourney teams for the Port Allegany
Holiday Tournament in 2004 and 2005 and the St. Marys Tournament in
    2005.

Bova says his reasons for wanting to play in the Classic are “to
get to know the guys I competed against during my high school
    career.”

“My brother played in the 1997 game and the fondest memories he
has are the friendships he developed,” Bova said. “Also, it’s a
chance to promote a good cause for people in need.”

His biggest thrill was defeating Curwensville his sophomore year
in the first round of the District 9 playoffs on a last-second
    field goal.

Other than sports, his hobbies are hunting, fishing and watching
    sports.

The Buffalo Bills is his favorite team and Brett Favre his
    favorite player.

Three players were added to the New York roster.

John Forsythe of Allegany-Limestone Central School is 5’10” and
weighs in at 180 pounds. He was a tailback and linebacker for the
    Gators.

Forsythe will further his education at SUNY-Cortland to major in
    conservation biology.

Forsythe is a scholastic athlete, the 2004-2005 special teams
MVP, the 2004 Portville-Allegany Classic MVP and a player of the
    week.

When asked why he wanted to play in the Classic his response
was, “I love to play football and I have always wanted to be on the
    New York all-star team.”

His biggest thrills were upsetting Salamanca on homecoming and
    Falconer on senior night.

His spare time is spent snowboarding, playing paintball, playing
    X-box, camping and riding ATVs.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers is his favorite team, while Edgerrin
    James is his favorite player.

Also added to the New York team was Corey Perkins of
    Bolivar-Richburg Central School.

    Perkins is a 5-9, 175-pound quarterback-wide receiver. He was a
safety on defense and a punt returner on special teams.

He will further his education in the field of graphic arts and
    design.

For the Bulldogs, Perkins rushed for over a 1,000 yards,
lettered in three different sports, was Section V player of the
week in football and baseball, Expressway Conference all-star,
Livingston County League all-star and received the most dedicated
    player award in basketball.

He says he wants to play in the Raabe Classic because “it’s one
more chance to play at the high school level before college, and
I’m also looking forward to playing with the best athletes in the
    area.”

Perkins says defeating the number one-seeded team in the Section
V playoffs has been his biggest thrill in football.

His hobbies are football, baseball, snowboarding, hunting and
    art-drawing.

The Indianapolis Colts is favorite team and Marvin Harrison his
    favorite player.

Completing the additions to the New York roster is Dustin Hale
    of Randolph Central School.

Hale, standing at 6-5 and weighing 265 pounds, was a two-way
    tackle for the Cardinals.

He plans to further his education but is undecided upon the
    location at this time.

He was selected to the Olean (N.Y.) Times Herald Big 30 team in
2005 and was also voted Randolph’s lineman of the year.

When asked why he wanted to play in the Classic, Hale replied
“because I love to play football.”

His biggest thrills are winning the New York State championship
in 2005, playing with the team and winning.

His spare time is spent playing football, basketball and running
track. He is also a volunteer firefighter, and loves truck driving
    and anything related to farming.

The Buffalo Bills is his favorite team while Sam Adams is his
    favorite player.

This week’s additions bring the total number of Classic players
to 36, with 18 players on each team.

This year’s game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at Bradford
High’s Parkway Field. The game brings together graduated seniors
from New York State against graduated seniors from
    Pennsylvania.
