TOMORROW: Be sure to turn on your outside Christmas lights
tomorrow night especially if you’re on the bus route of the annual
senior citizens tour of Bradford’s holiday lighting.[neWLine]
The event, sponsored by the Era’s Less Fortunate (ELF) Fund,
concludes with a Christmas party at the University of Pittsburgh at
Bradford. The tour, which includes stops at Beacon Light’s living
nativity and Santa’s house on Nelson Avenue, tries to take in as
many lighting highlights as possible in the Bradford
area.[neWLine][neWLine]
SPECIAL STORE: Mary Fairbanks writes us from Florida: “”Your
articles on the Christmas Store closing brought back some good and
some bad memories.””[neWLine]
“”I remember buying my Fontanini Nativity Collection there. Each
year we would add a piece until we moved South. I still find them
now at the Shrine of Our Lady of Le Leche in St. Augustine, Fla.,
and have quite a collection.[neWLine]
“”But, I do thank the owners of The Christmas Store for bringing
these beautiful figurines to our locale as they are not always easy
to find.[neWLine]
“”Their inclusion of carrying these items enabled me to begin a
family tradition that continues with my grandchildren today who
love setting up the scene and adding even more
pieces.””[neWLine]
But she adds a question that maybe one of our Smethport readers
can answer, “”On the down side, do you remember when there was a
terrible fire there or is my memory foggy?””[neWLine][neWLine]
70 YEARS: Gale Abbott has a question, “”It occurs to me that in
the merry month of May, the Bradford High School class of ’35 will
be celebrating our 70th anniversary. I am wondering if there is
anyone with an up-to-date roster, who is willing to take the time
to plan a reunion next spring or summer? Merely a luncheon would be
sufficient.””[neWLine]
“”And incidenly, the Bradford High football teams of ’34, ’35
and ’36 under coach Bob Pflug, were also undefeated and untied.
