The Bradford City Water Authority has an immediate opening for a
Water Treatment Plant Operator.
This position will report directly to the Water Treatment Plant Foreman with
secondary reporting to include the Water Facilities Supt, Operations Manager and
Executive Director. This position shall utilize AWWA standards to uphold and
adhere to all water quality standards and requirements set forth by the PA DEP.
Primary working hours will be 7:00am-3:00pm. Alternate shifts may be required
as necessary.
This position will also require on-call duties at a minimum of once every 4th week
(which includes working 7 straight days on-call Thur – Wed), during this time the
candidate is expected to be immediately available to answer and respond to all calls,
which could include covering off-hours, weekends, and Holiday’s. During on-call
duties, personal travel time is limited to no more than 30 minutes from the
Water Treatment Plant.
By no later than the end of the Fourth (4th) year as Water Plant Operator Trainee,
the candidate must successfully pass and obtain Class-A Water Certification, with
appropriate sub classes of 1-Conventional Filtration, 7-Corrosion Control and
Sequestering, 8-Chemical Addition, 10-Organic Removal, 11-Gaseous
Chlorination Disinfection, 12-Non-gaseous Chemical Disinfection, WGEN–Water
General Course and DEP Security Course.
Focused initiatives relative to this position include the ability to: exhibit safe work
habits and practices, work well in a team-oriented environment, obtain and retain
knowledge and skill associated with all operations, maintenance and repairs
of Water Treatment Plant system assets, and exhibit exceptional attention to detail.
Educational requirements will include the demonstrated ability to complete all
required training and continuing education units as directed by the Authority to
obtain/maintain state certification in the field of Water Treatment Operator.
Successful candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. A
degree or practical experience in Chemistry, Biology or similar water sciences
is beneficial.
Candidates holding a current Pennsylvania Water or Wastewater Operator
Certification and License is extremely preferred. Similar water-related certifications
including licensed plumbing background and experience or skilled trade will also be
strongly considered. A successful candidate must possess a current Pennsylvania
driver’s license.
Successful candidates must also have the physical capability to work outdoors in all
types of weather and the ability to work safely in and around hazardous areas or
conditions including chemicals. Successful candidates must be able to respond to
immediate water asset issues or emergencies as required during off hours.
Competitive benefits package includes health, dental and vision insurance. Hourly
classifications range from Trainee at $37.31/hr to Certified Operator at $40.54/hr.
