    OV, Austin win in consolation brackets

    Oswayo Valley 59, Forest Area 24

    MARIENVILLE — Cayden Black powered Oswayo Valley’s offense with 17 points and six assists as the Green Wave took down Forest Area.

    Black exploded in the third quarter with 10 points. Joe Maurer was second on the team with 13 points while Ian Bilski notched 12. OV didn’t shoot many three balls but did a good job getting to the free throw line. They only committed eight fouls and drew 13, while shooting 50% on 22 attempts at the charity stripe.

    Cody Dailey had four points for but cleaned the glass with 14 rebounds. Nik Bonney was big on defense too, notching nine rebounds.

    Forest Area was led by Keyon Custer, who knocked down three 3-pointers to score nine points.

    North Clarion 53, Port Allegany 28 (consolation)

    AT SHEFFIELD — Aiden Hartle dominated in the Sheffield tournament to score 20 points and lead North Clarion to a win over Port Allegany.

    Hartle started hot, scoring 12 points in the first quarter to give NC a six point lead in the first. Collin Schmader scored 18 points for NC, including an eight point third quarter that permanently swung the game in NC’s favor.

    Blaine Moses had eight points and 13 rebounds for Port Allegany while Evens had nine points, five rebounds and three steals.

    “Played an ok first half, only down five going into halftime,” said Port coach Kyle Babcock. “Came out and started turning the ball over. We had 27 turnovers total and shot 9-23 from the line. Tough to beat anyone with those numbers.”

    Galeton Tournament

    Austin 42, Galeton 23 (consolation)

    GALETON — Austin shook off a slow start to take an eight point lead into half as they won 42-23 in the consolation game of the Galeton tournament.

    Cameron Rees led Austin with 16 points. He had a big fourth quarter, scoring seven points to help prevent any possible Galeton comeback. Jacob Hooftallen had 11 points, with four in a tightly contested first quarter and four in a third quarter that featured high-scoring from both teams.

    Ayden Whipple led Galeton in scoring with seven points including a 3-pointer.
