WARREN — The USDA Forest Service announced that hundreds of Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) permits for the 2023-24 hunting season are still available.
For the 2023-24 season, there are nine DMAP units in the Allegheny National Forest (ANF) and three DMAP units in the Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative (KQDC).
Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative DMAP units available for the 2023-24 season are Unit 135, Conservation Forestry and a portion of the ANF; Unit 1996 – Bradford Watershed, Collins Pine; and Unit 1981, a portion of the ANF.
Allegheny National Forest units for the 2023-24 hunting season are Unit 2211 in Forest County; Unit 2288 in Elk County; Unit 2501 in Warren and Forest counties; Unit 2637 in Warren and Forest counties; Unit 2824 in Warren, McKean, Elk and Forest counties; Unit 3373 in McKean County; Unit 3593 in Forest and Elk counties; Unit 4102 in Warren and McKean counties; and Unit 4820 in Forest County.
Maps of each of the units are available online at DMAP Maps.
Hunters can purchase up to two permits per DMAP unit on the ANF or KQDC. Permits are available from license-issuing agents or by visiting HuntFishPA. A coupon is not required to purchase a permit for DMAP units on the ANF or KQDC. The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s DMAP Participating Properties webpage is regularly updated to show how many permits are available for each DMAP unit.
Hunters on DMAP properties may hunt antlerless deer in any deer season, using the sporting arm or implement allowed during that season. The hunter must have a license for the current season; for example, archery or muzzleloader licenses are required to take antlerless deer with DMAP permits during those seasons.
For information on Pennsylvania’s hunting regulations, read the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s 2023-24 “Pennsylvania Hunting & Trapping Digest.”
Reporting on harvest success is mandatory for all DMAP permit holders, regardless of whether a deer is harvested. Complete reporting by clicking Report a Harvest on the PA Game Commission website, calling (800) 838-4431 or by sending in the postage-paid report card found in the “Pennsylvania Hunting and Trapping Digest.”
