There is one more month in which to register to vote before the November general election.
The last day to register to vote is Oct. 24, according to the Department of State.
There are nearly 25,000 registered voters currently in McKean County.
Currently there are more than twice as many Republicans as Democrats in the county, with 15,437 registered Republicans and 5,964 registered Democrats.
Other parties are also represented, but in far fewer numbers. There are 31 Green party members, 154 Libertarians and 3,368 people who are independent or registered in other parties.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been 288 party changes, according to Lisa Pratt, McKean County Director of Elections.
As for voting, she explained, “Currently there are 1,304 mail ballot applications and 83 absentee ballot applications.”
On the ballot this fall will be Martin Causer, an unopposed Republican, seeking re-election as representative for the 67th district; and Republican Glenn Thompson, incumbent representative for the 15th Congressional District, challenged by Democrat Mike Molesevich.
For statewide seats, the races for U.S. Senate and governor/ lieutenant governor have been dominating the news.
For Senate, the Democratic candidate is John Fetterman and the Republican candidate is Mehmet Oz. The Libertarian candidate is Erik Gerhardt, Green party candidate is Richard L. Weiss and Keystone candidate is Daniel Wassmer.
For governor/lieutenant governor, the candidates are as follows: Democrat, Josh Shapiro for governor and Austin Davis for lieutenant governor; Republican, Douglas Mastriano for governor and Carrie Lewis DelRosso for lieutenant governor; for Libertarian, Matt Hackenburg for governor and Tim McMaster for lieutenant; Green Party, Christina Digiulio, governor, Michael Bagdes-Canning, lieutenant; and Keystone, Joe Soloski, governor, and Nichole Shultz, lieutenant.
