Some area residents may have noticed a sign at the Crosby’s on South Kendall Avenue in Bradford announcing its pending closure.

David George, director of store operations for Crosby’s stores, confirmed the news Monday.

George stated, “As we continue to develop the Crosby’s brand across Western New York and Northwest Pennsylvania, it sometimes becomes necessary to make difficult decisions on existing locations. Given our recent reinvestment in our store located on Jackson Avenue in Bradford and our upcoming reinvestment in our store located on South Avenue in Bradford, coupled with plans to refresh our Foster Brook store located on East Main Street, we have reached the difficult decision to close our store located on South Kendall Avenue in Bradford.”

In regard to those who work at the South Kendall location, they have been made aware and offered an opportunity to remain with the company.

“Rest assured that all associates employed at the South Kendall location have been notified and will be offered equivalent employment at neighboring stores,” George said. “Our last day of business is scheduled for Dec. 11, and we plan to vacate the building by Dec. 31, 2021. We encourage our customer base at South Kendall to visit one of our five other Bradford area locations.”

As mentioned, Crosby’s has five locations that remain open in the Bradford area:

two in the city at 256 Jackson Avenue and 242 West Washington Street, one in Foster Township at 1002 East Main Street, one in Bradford Township at 573 South Avenue and the 1469 South Avenue location in Lewis Run.

A former location on Interstate Parkway closed in 2010.
