There was a small grease fire at Tops Friendly Markets in Bradford Saturday afternoon, but there was very little damage and no injuries.
Store personnel were able to extinguish the fire prior to arrival of a crew from Bradford City Fire Department.
“It was pretty much out by the time we got there,” explained Capt. J.D. Tehle. “They knocked down with extinguishers, and we just mopped up more or less.”
Firefighters were joined by Bradford City Police on scene. Officer Michael Spencer said it was a “simple kitchen fire with a very small amount of damage.”
Officers and firefighters had been enjoying a brief barbecue lunch together at Central Fire Station when the call came in for the fire.
