DATES: April 20 through 29 of this year might be considered extra lucky by some folks.
That’s because these dates are palindromes — the same forward and backward. We’re used to palindromes in words, like level, or some phrases, like taco cat, or even in song, with the Weird Al song “Bob,” done completely in sentences or phrases that are palindromes — “I, man, am Regal, a German am I. Never odd or even. If I had a Hi-Fi. Madam, I’m Adam. Too hot to hoot. No lemons, no melon. Too bad I hid a boot.”
The month of April has 11 palindrome dates. We’ve already had one, April 2, or 4/2/24.
For the rest, they are from April 20 — 4/20/24 — to April 29 — 4/29/24.
The years 2025 to 2029 will each have 11 palindrome dates, too.
“These will occur in May in 2025, June in 2026, July in 2027, August in 2028 and September in 2029. Each of these years will also contain one seven-digit full palindrome date coinciding with the 20th of each of these respective months. After 2029, no other year in this century will contain an abundance of consecutive palindrome dates like most of the years in this decade or last decade,” says the Farmer’s Almanac.
Do you believe these dates are lucky?
Farmer’s Almanac says, “Palindrome dates are especially notable because they are rare. For this reason, they are believed to be lucky.”
If one were to include two digit days, two digit months and all four numbers of the year, the next palindrome date would be March 2, 2030 — 03/02/2030.
The most recent one was Dec. 2, 2021 — 12/02/2021.
