RIDGWAY — A Ridgway man was sent to Elk County Prison on charges including strangulation for an alleged assault on Sunday.
Michael Johnson, 43, is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony; discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, a third-degree felony; two counts of simple assault and one of recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, a summary offense.
Ridgway Police investigated an alleged domestic assault on North Maple Avenue in Ridgway. Police received a report of a female who had been assaulted and a handgun that had been discharged inside the residence. Upon arrival, police learned the female had fled the residence into a wooded area. After a brief standoff at the residence, police were able to apprehend Johnson, who was arraigned before on-call District Judge Mark Jacob and remanded to jail on $30,000 cash bail.
