Bradford man charged with criminal mischief at McKean County Jail
LEWIS RUN — At approximately 3:57 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7 the Lewis Run barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) investigated a report of criminal mischief at the McKean County Jail in Smethport.
Upon further investigation, PSP determined Daniel Vargas, 30, of Bradford, had damaged a gray metal mailbox by punching it. Damages totaled $305, according to State Police.
Charges will be filed in district court before District Judge Bill Todd in Smethport.
Ridgway woman arrested for endangering the welfare of a child
RIDGWAY — At approximately 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14 the Ridgway Patrol Unit of the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to Ridgway Township to investigate a report of a male child wandering the roadway.
Upon arrival at 57 Long Level Road state police determined the victim, a two-year-old male child, was unsupervised for approximately 45 minutes and wandered into the intersection of State Route 948 and Long Level Road.
According to police, Jessica Smith, 42, of Ridgway, was taken into custody for endangering the welfare of a child. Smith was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Martin and placed in the Elk County Jail in lieu of $10,000, straight bail.
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
No injuries in one vehicle MVA in Corydon Twp.
LEWIS RUN — Pennsylvania State Police responded Wednesday, June 8, at approximately 4:09 p.m. on Fire Road in Corydon Township for a report of a motor vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, officers found a car driven by Ashley Root, 23, from Bradford, damaged to the point of being disabled.
According to the report, Root was traveling north on Fire Road and failed to navigate a right hand curve. This caused the vehicle to travel off the roadway and strike a tree.
Although Root was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt (her passenger, Kolorado Banks, 22, of Bradford, was), no injuries were sustained.
Root was charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
