COUDERSPORT — Pennsylvania State Police reported this week the details of a school bus accident that occurred at 7:31 a.m. Sept. 22 on Ridge Road in Genesee Township, Potter County.
The accident sent several children to the hospital. Thirty children, ranging in age from 4 to 16 years old, were involved. Eleven passengers suffered injuries of unknown severity, while 19 were reported to have not suffered any injuries.
According to the police report, a bus driven by Donald Miller, 76, of Ulysses, was traveling north on Ridge Road when it went out of control and drove off the western side of the roadway and into a ditch. The bus rolled onto its left side and came to a final rest off the west side of the roadway.
Miller, who was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, sustained injuries of unknown severity but was not transported to a medical facility.
He was charged for not driving on the right side of the roadway.
COUDERSPORT — State police responded to a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 6 in Roulette Township, Potter County, at 6:23 a.m. Oct. 5.
According to troopers, a truck driven by Linda Weimer, 65, of Roulette, was traveling south on Fishing Creek Road when it came to a stop at the intersection with U.S. Route 6. The vehicle then pulled out in front of a vehicle driven by Robert A. Saltsman, 55, of Turtlepoint.
The accident caused disabling damage to both vehicles, which were reportedly towed from the scene.
Neither driver sustained injury and both were wearing seatbelts, according to reports.
Weimer was charged for not obeying stop signs and yield signs.
COUDERSPORT — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a report of gun theft in Sweden Township, Potter County.
Troopers were called to an East Second Street residence at 12:44 p.m. Oct. 2 for a report of stolen guns, valued at approximately $5,000, according to police reports. The following have been reported stolen: Thomas Arms Co. Thompson Contender with three extra barrels; FNH USA LLC Fredericksburg Va. 1911 Fabric National 9MM 1911; Beretta USA Corp. formerly F.I. Industries Beretta 9MM; Sturm, Ruger and Company Inc. aka Ruger Southport CT Ruger Semi-Auto 22; Aldens (Chieftain) manufactured by Savage Model Rifle 22 Magnum; Aldens (Chieftain) manufactured by Savage Model Rifle 17; Aldens (Chieftain) manufactured by Savage over/under shotgun; and FNH USA LLC Fredericksburg Va. Old Military Fabric National 270.
