SMETHPORT — McKean County Historical Society officials with the Old Jail Museum have announced they will open the facility on Aug. 23, instead of Aug. 2, as originally planned.

Officials said the museum will have a display at the McKean County Fair when it is open from Aug. 16 through 20 and all are encouraged to stop by and see the displays. The displays will have a theme in honor of the fair’s 115th anniversary.

When the museum opens Aug. 23 through October, the hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays. Admission will be $5 for the general public, $3 for senior citizens and free for members, students, children ages 12 and under as well as active duty military and their immediate family.
