The McKean County Commissioners began Tuesday’s meeting with a moment of silence in memory of Era correspondent Fran De Lancey, who had covered the meetings for several years.
Commissioner Chairman Tom Kreiner mentioned that last week was EMS Week, and commended the EMS workers in the county for their hard work helping the community. He also mentioned that two county employees, Planning Director Rick Fry and Nate Burgett, director of emergency services, had graduated from the recent Leadership McKean Course. “We’ve very pleased with the work they did.”
He explained, too, that an emergency meeting was held May 12 to address a Department of Human Services matter for a juvenile and for an emergency repair at the 911 Center.
The commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the filing of a proposal for a McKean County Emergency Solutions grant through A Partnership in Housing Inc. with the Department of Community and Economic Development.
Melissa Newcombe with the McKean County Housing Authority said it would be for a total of $141,924 for A Partnership In Housing, $106,090 for rapid rehousing, $33,182 for homeless prevention, $2,256 for Homeless Management Information System, $13,395 for administration and $215,261.93 for the YWCA.
The commissioners approved several agreements for early intervention and foster care.
Commissioner Carol Duffy reminded those in attendance that the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission is looking for input through housing and transportation surveys on their website.
Commissioners announced a meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2 to open bids for concrete work for the courthouse project and to act on a resolution for the Housing Authority.
