May 8 is March of Dimes Awareness Day, and a local team at Dresser-Bradford is raising money with a virtual walk.

Marie Ober, the team captain, explained participants can walk anywhere, as the virtual walk begins at 10 a.m.

“We’re asking folks and pets to wear purple, March of Dimes’ signature color, when out and about in our community on Saturday, May 8,” she said.

The March of Dimes focuses on pre-term births and support for families. All the tests newborns receive are a result of the efforts and research by March of Dimes.

“More than just a walk, March for Babies helps you lift up communities for health equality, access to care, and to protect the health of families,” reads a release from Ober.

She has put together a raffle to raise money for March of Dimes research, and is collecting monetary pledges as well. To take a chance on the raffle, visit https://www.marchforbabies.org/bradfordraffle2021. A donation of $10 gets a chance to win “the ultimate outdoor prize package” valued at more than $700. Items in the package include a $50 gift card sponsored by Tops Market and Zippo,Case and Northern Lights items, sponsored by the Zippo Case Museum and Flagship Store.
