Did you feel it?
At 1:41 p.m., an earthquake with a magnitude in the 5.0 to 5.5
range occurred, with Quebec, Canada as its epicenter. Residents of
McKean County, including Bradford, Smethport, Port Allegany and
Eldred, among others, report feeling the tremors.
It was reportedly felt at the courthouse in Smethport, where no
damage occurred. A resident of Port Allegany reported feeling her
house shake as well.
According to A.B. Wade, a spokesperson for the United States
Geological Survey, “There was a big earthquake in Canada. It was
felt lively in the northeast.”
The tremors were felt as far west as Michigan and in Pittsburgh
to the south.
