ERIE – Community Blood Bank (CBB), provider of blood and blood products to 16 local hospitals and Stat MedEvacs in northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York, invites community members to donate blood in May for a chance to win one of two sets of kayaks.
Hospital usage continues to be high and the need for blood remains critical. Types O-negative, O-positive and A-negative are particularly in demand.
To participate, donate blood at CBB’s Erie Donor Center or at an upcoming local mobile blood drive during May. All donors will be automatically entered to win one of the two sets of kayaks and paddles.
Blood shortages have far-reaching consequences, impacting medical treatments, childbirth procedures, and individuals with blood disorders or conditions requiring regular transfusions. Each blood donation has the potential to save multiple lives.
Local blood drives are coming up in Port Allegany and Bradford.
S.W. Smith Memorial Library, 201 E. Maple St., will host Port’s drive from 2 to 6 p.m. May 16. The Red Horse Grill food truck will be on site with food available for purchase.
St. Bernard Church, 95 E. Corydon St., will host Bradford’s drive from noon to 5 p.m. May 20.
Call (814) 596-3395 to schedule an appointment to donate at either location. Appointments are encouraged to reduce your wait time but are not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows.
