LEWIS RUN — The Pennsylvania State Police unit in Lewis Run responded to an accident involving two vehicles at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the intersection of Main and Elm Street in the borough of Eldred.
Noah Schimp, 21, of Eldred was traveling north on Main Street in his Ford Focus behind a Toyota Corolla driven by Jo Crandell, 61, of Eldred. While traveling down Main Street near its intersection with Elm Street, Schimp rear ended the Toyota Corolla.
The accident caused disabling damage to the Ford Focus and minor damage to the Toyota Corolla. Crandell was wearing her seatbelt and not injured, she was able to drive her vehicle from the scene.
According to the State Police, Schimp was not wearing his seatbelt and fled the scene of the accident on foot before being located and transported by Phoenix Emergency Medical Services to the Bradford Regional Medical Center for a medical evaluation.
During the investigation police suspected Schimp was under the influence of alcohol. Charges are pending toxicology results.
