SMETHPORT — A Bradford man was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.
Abrahm Hatcher was sentenced by President Judge John Pavlock to 30 to 60 months incarceration in state prison, followed by 3 years of supervision, for multiple felonies related to possessing that material.
On June 23, 2022, Pennsylvania State Police Computer Crime Unit received a complaint from Internet Crimes Against Children relating to eight Cybertip reports from the website Discord, a voice, video and chat app.
A trooper was able to identify the account and IP address, which led police to Hatcher. He was arraigned Aug. 22 before District Judge Dom Cercone and on Sept. 20 waived his hearing on 11 counts of child pornography, second-degree felonies; 11 counts of disseminating photos or films of child pornography, second-degree felonies; and one count each of criminal use of a communication facility and child pornography, third-degree felonies.
Hatcher pleaded guilty to 11 counts of possessing and/or displaying a video depicting child pornography. District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer noted the statute considers each video the equivalent of 50 images.
Pennsylvania law requires Hatcher to register as a sex offender for 25 years. In addition, he must provide a DNA sample and undergo sex offender treatment. He is ineligible for early release.
