In what local residents and business owners are saying is happening far too often, there was another power outage in the Bradford area Tuesday morning.
This one took out power to the Main Street area, including The Era.
Issues from the outage sent The Era to press early. Items usually seen in the daily paper, like sports coverage, will be in Thursday’s paper.
According to Penelec on Tuesday afternoon, “There was an issue with a piece of equipment on Boylston Street, which caused what we believe was a weather-related outage. Within an hour, crews had limited the outage to only affect 13 customers while they made repairs, and now everyone is back on.”
A power issue Sunday impacted the Main Street area and The Era. Penelec said Monday the cause was under investigation.
Several outages lately have been caused by trees outside of the Penelec right-of-way falling across wires. When that happened in the Lewis Run area in late December, explosions were visible from several miles away.
Penelec said what people were seeing was electric flares from the tree falling against the wires and pinning them to the ground.
