GARY, Ind. — Megan Elizabeth Maar and Joshua Henry Mongillo were united in marriage on Oct. 19, 2019, at Marquette Park in Gary with the couple’s friend, Bishop Thomas Bickerton of New York City, officiating. The wedding was at 4:30 p.m. with the reception immediately following.
The bride is the daughter of Bill and Erica Maar of Valparaiso, and the groom is the son of Steve and Brenda Mongillo of Bradford, Pa.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Sisters of the bride Annaliese Maar and Rianna Maar, both of Valparaiso, served as co-maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Haley Rhew of Valparaiso, Lucia Calderon of Valparaiso, Grace Gass of Valparaiso, Maren Richards Brinton of Nashville, Tenn., and Elly Kutch of Valparaiso. All five are friends of the bride.
Austin Greek of Bradford, a friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were brother of the bride Andrew Maar of Valparaiso, friend of the groom Mike Sloan of Bradford, friend of the groom Ian Edwards of Bethlehem, Pa., friend of the groom Joe Frederick of Bradford, cousin of the groom Matt Mongillo of Bradford and cousin of the groom Jon Mongillo of Bradford.
The groom is the grandson of Catherine Henry of Bradford, the late Walter Henry, Ann Mongillo of Bradford and the late Jack Mongillo Sr.
The bride is the granddaughter of Robert and Olga Zacny of Valparaiso, Joachim Maar of Valparaiso and the late Virginia Maar.
The couple planned a honeymoon trip to Italy.
The bride, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Allegheny College, Meadville, Pa., is attending Rocky Vista University Medical School in St. George, Utah.
The groom, a research analyst, was a neuroscience/psychology major at Allegheny College and earned a Master of Public Health degree from Emory University, Atlanta, Ga.
