Officials with the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund have been asked to present at the North American Passive House Network’s 2021 conference, slated for June in New York City.
This year’s theme is “Passive House for All” and encourages the nation to consider the benefits of Passive House construction methods.
Officials, in a statement released to social media, explained the presentation will cover both the technical and economic aspects of the project in Kane.
The project is unique in the fact that it is the first Passive House retrofit of a commercial building.
The conference will be conducted both in-person (at limited capacity) and with attendees able to participate through an online platform. Other topics planned for presentation at the conference include financing for Passive House construction, the connection between affordable housing and Passive House, the continual learning process related to Passive House construction and a look into the future and the potential of this construction process.
The Kane Passive House was previously featured in Passive House Accelerator, a magazine focused on climate-conscious building. Plans are to see the project featured again in a special retrofit edition.
Most recently, crews have been pouring concrete and insulating the first floor of the building. Framing of the outreach rooms on the third floor is also moving forward.
