Caldwell announced retirement from Burn & Burns


Burns & Burns Insurance announced that Dave Caldwell will retire from the business’s Bradford branch.

Caldwell spent 26 years with Burns & Burns as a licensed insurance agent and regional vice president. He is designated with his CPCU and AAI, holds Property & Casualty and Life & Health broker and agent licenses in Pennsylvania and New York. He also has a Surplus Lines license in Pennsylvania.

Caldwell retired from Burns & Burns Insurance on Jan. 15.

He attended the University of North Carolina, majoring in business administration and minoring in math and history. He started his insurance career in 1978 in claims for three years.

He was promoted to claims manager at Corroon & Black and also Frank B Hall in Philadelphia. It was at this job that he got experience working with major national accounts, including airlines and aviation. He then moved into agent/production work with Frank B Hall and a regional agency outside of Philadelphia called McCrea and Gallen.

Caldwell came to Burns & Burns in 1992 and became the regional vice president, taking over the office from Arvid Nelson. Caldwell led the entire Burns & Burns agency in production for six consecutive years between 1993-98. He left B&B for a year and a half in 2009 to be the executive vice president of Moore McLean, a brokerage firm in Toronto, Canada. He came back to the Bradford Burns & Burns office in 2011.

Burns is a fourth generation independent insurance agency with nine branches across Northwestern Pennsylvania in Clarion, Bradford, Clearfield, Erie, Meadville, Mercer, New Wilmington, Tionesta and Warren.

The full-service agency recently celebrated its 80th anniversary in business in 2019.
