James DeLong Jr.
RIDGWAY — James L. DeLong Jr., 83, of Ridgway passed away peacefully Monday (Sept. 21, 2026) at Elk Haven Nursing Home with family by his side.
He was born Nov. 25, 1942, in Bristol, the son of the late James and Colleen Roberts DeLong.
On June 27, 1964, he married the late Judith Beimel, who preceded him in death in 2017.
Jim was an avid car collector who took great pride in his collection and especially enjoyed getting behind the wheel and taking his cars out for a drive. He also enjoyed shooting and hunting small game and appreciated the time he spent outdoors.
A collector at heart, Jim had a special appreciation for guns, pocket watches and anything related to the railroad. He enjoyed finding unique pieces and adding them to his collection. Throughout his working years, Jim was employed as a log truck driver for Buehler Lumber, worked as a die setter at IPM, and later retired from Speer Carbon Co. His many interests reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship, history and the things of days gone by.
Jim is survived by three children, Laurel O’Donnell, James DeLong III and Robert DeLong, all of Ridgway; two grandchildren, Katie (Shane Vogt) O’Donnell and Michael (Keesha) O’Donnell, all of Ridgway; and seven great-grandchildren, Josie, Katriel, Ailea, Ryanne, Ryder, Axton and Alec.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Daniel.
Family and friends were received and a memorial service was held Friday (Oct. 2, 2026) at Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center St., with the Rev. Ron Burkett officiating.
Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society, 1029 E. Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.
