Rasselas Road railroad crossings to close Saturday

CLEARFIELD — Two Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad crossings on Rasselas Road (Route 1001) in Jones Township will close Saturday for surface replacement, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

The work is expected to improve the rail infrastructure, ride quality and safety for motorists.

The crossings are scheduled to close at 7 a.m. Saturday and reopen around 7 a.m. Tuesday. Traffic will be detoured using Clarion Street (Route 1006), U.S. Route 219, U.S. Route 6, Red Mill Brook Road (Route 146) and Clermont Road (Route 2001).

The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

PennDOT urged drivers to use caution in the work zone, remain alert for railroad workers and equipment, approach railroad crossings carefully and “Always expect a train.”
