McKean County native Joe Giordano, who currently lives in Tennessee, recently won a gold medal for weightlifting during the Tennessee Senior Olympics, held in late June. Giordano, who is battling cancer, has been regularly training for and competing in Senior Olympic events. He lifted 500 lbs and met his goal for the event while earning the gold medal. Giordano also took home a bronze medal in the high jump.
