Gregory Hartle

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Gregory C. Hartle of Jonesville died Thursday, July 30, 2026, at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Olean, N.Y., on Feb. 17, 1959, he was a son of William R. and Anna M. Tutokie Hartle.

Greg was a 1977 graduate of Bradford (Pa.) Area High School. He attended Alfred (N.Y.) State University. He was employed as a mechanic and worked for and owned numerous body shops and garages prior to retirement. Greg was highly knowledgeable in all aspects of automotive repair and was known for his skill, dedication and craftsmanship, which earned the respect of those who knew and worked with him.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He was especially fond of his dog, Guiness.

In addition to his mother of Bradford, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Lisa Grobbel of Fraser; two brothers, Patrick Hartle of Bradford and Kenneth (Valerie) Hartle of Topeka, Kan.; a sister, Elizabeth Spindler of Bradford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a dear friend and companion, Sandra Ames of Woodhaven.

He was predeceased by his father.

Private funeral services were conducted Aug. 4, 2026, beginning with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hawk Run, Pa., followed by burial in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Philipsburg, Pa.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
