James Pierce

James R. “Jim” Pierce, 85, formerly of Riley Road Apartments, passed away Sunday (July 12, 2026) at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Jim was born in Punxsutawney on July 31, 1940, a son of the late Lloyd and Nettie Carlson Pierce. He was a 1958 graduate of Salamanca (N.Y.) High School.

Jim was employed after graduating as an ambulance driver. He later worked at Parkview in Salamanca and then worked for 26 years as a railroad engineer with the Erie & Lackawanna Railroad, the B&O Railroad, the Chessie Railroad and finally at the B&P Railroad.

He enjoyed traveling by motorhome around the country, spending time with his family and going to the casino.

Surviving are one daughter, Lorraine (Joe) D. McCaslin of Warren; two sons, Bryan (Tina) Pierce of Bradford and Todd (Gail) Pierce in North Carolina; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (the late Jack) Brunner of Bradford; and one brother, John (Linda) Pierce of Kennedy, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one sister, Ella Marie Baker.

Family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday (July 17, 2026) at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 E. Main St., where funeral services will immediately follow with Shawn Pierce, co-pastor of Free Spirit Redeemers Chapel Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
