Karl Ross

KANE — Karl Ross, 61, of Pennsylvania Avenue, passed away Tuesday (May 26, 2026) at UPMC Shadyside after a recent illness.

He was born Aug. 30, 1964, in Glens Falls, N.Y., the son of the late Lawrence and Marilyn Johnson Ross. He married June Zarnick, who survives, on July 7, 1990, in Kane.

Karl was a 1982 graduate of Kane High School. He worked at Keystone Thermometrics in Mount Jewett for 18 years. He then graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and earned a degree in business administration. He finished his career working at American Refining Group in Bradford, until his retirement in 2024.

He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane, where he served on the Parish Council and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Lions Club in Kane. Karl was a Boy Scout leader for 13 years as his sons grew up. After retirement, Karl was active with the Kane Food Pantry and St. Callistus Cemetery. He served on the board at Kane Country Club and loved the game of golf. He enjoyed golfing many different courses with his buddies.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark Ross of Bridgeville and Martin Ross of Ridgway; one grandson, Mason Blakely; two brothers, Erik (Megan Inghram) Ross of Mount Jewett and Bill (Wendy) Ross of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday (June 2, 2026) in the Gathering Space at St. Callistus. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow with the Rev. William O’Brien as celebrant. Interment will be in the mausoleum at St. Callistus.
